Description

The Irwin 8mm x 1.25 HCS Hexagon Metric Die (9734) is a reliable and versatile tool designed for a variety of thread cutting and rethreading applications. Constructed from high-carbon steel, this die is engineered for durability and performance when working with metric threads. Its unique hexagonal shape distinguishes it from traditional round dies, providing greater flexibility and ease of use in confined or awkward spaces.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • High Carbon Steel Construction: Provides a robust and strong cutting edge for effective, clean thread cutting and rethreading, balancing hardness and toughness.
  • Hexagon Shape: Allows for versatile tool use with standard sockets or wrenches, especially helpful in tight spaces where traditional die stocks may not fit.
  • Metric Thread Size: Engineered for M8 x 1.25 threads, widely used in mechanical and automotive systems for broad application.
  • Right-Hand Thread Direction: Ensures compatibility with standard hardware and components.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Model Number: 9734
  • Thread Size: M8 x 1.25 mm
  • Material: High Carbon Steel (HCS)
  • Thread Direction: Right-Hand

HOW TO USE:

  • Prepare the Workpiece: Use a properly sized rod or bolt with a clean, slightly chamfered end to aid threading.
  • Select the Tool: Choose an appropriate die stock, wrench, or socket depending on your working space and preference.
  • Start the Thread: Place the die squarely on the workpiece end. Apply slight downward pressure and turn clockwise to begin the thread, ensuring it starts straight.
  • Cut the Thread: Continue turning clockwise. After half to one full turn, back up the die a quarter turn counterclockwise to break chips and prevent binding.
  • Finish and Clean: Repeat the clockwise and counterclockwise motions until the thread is cut to the desired length. Remove the die and clean threads with a wire brush.
