Description
The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GMFJP-B8XV or 281GMFJPB8XV, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, commonly found on Allison transmissions. An evolution of the 280 Series, the 281 Series addresses vibrational stress from modern engine designs through a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron and an improved o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap. The clutch pack features steel discs 80% thicker than the predecessor design to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges, and an optional Wet Spline lubrication configuration extends shaft life by 7 to 10 times. Cross-references include 280GMFJP-B8XV and 280GMFJPB8XV.
